Today’s Gospel according to John, used to celebrate the Trinity, tells us, “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son… Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned.”
Perhaps the Gospel condemnation means to a less meaningful life. Supremacists within institutional Christianity believe it means their right to physically condemn people. In their condemnations, supremacists assert they are emulating their God, a mirror image warrior God, whom they split in three – a supremacist Father, whose Son’s crucifixion conveys the Father’s right to condemn people, and a surveilling Spirit who, upon our being saved, controls us on behalf of the supremacist Father. Other triumvirate Gods have appeared through history, for example, the Hindu Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Greece’s Zeus, Poseidon, Hades. Rome structured more than one supremacist triumvirate that began with Julius Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus. Dante writes of the Divine Comedy in three: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, each fashioned as a judgment from the supremacist Father God. When the U.S.’ founding fathers separated from the British Monarchy to form “a more perfect union,” they developed a government based on three: executive, judicial, legislative. Three signifies wholeness, harmony, balance. It’s an ideal relationship with each ingredient having its own integrity. But as institutional Christianity’s trinity is not a balance of integrity, nor is the U.S.’ political system a balance of integrity. Its branches are three expressions of the one same supremacy system. It’s a system of political supremacists, who all value their gains in capital plunder, and use their killing ethics to protect it all. If the U.S. triumvirate were balanced, of the common people, by the common people, and for the common people, the U.S. would not be in its present MAGA circumstance. The U.S. is in this present MAGA circumstance with this present supremacist because the U.S. was made of supremacists, by supremacists, and for supremacists. Previous supremacists were simply quieter about their supremacy and more strategic in the minorities they condemned. This supremacist revels in his godly status and the condemnation inherent to the system. A triumvirate of supremacist gods was recently on display in the meeting of Xi Jinping, Donald Trump, and the Tech Bros. Who of them will be the ultimate supremacist Father God? It may depend on which member of this triumvirate can ultimately condemn us to existence of AI, by AI, and for AI. Each man leans into being a sociopath. Sociopath signifies a person who dehumanizes others. But, in truth, the term signifies how a person dehumanizes themselves. They become machine-like, AI-like. They become a creature who dehumanizes others, shows no empathy as they plunder the earth and other people’s lives, and kills us without remorse. Supremacists have been condemning us to AI for a very long time. Like their warrior supremacist ancestors of old, these AI supremacists are making their God in their very own image and likeness. How shall we conceive Trinity together living amongst these supremacists and their mirror image gods? How shall we form a more beautiful union? We replace supremacy with communion, replace capitalism’s plunder with loving economics, and replace killing with healing.
Of three in One and One in three My narrow mind would doubting be, Till Beauty, Grace and Kindness met, (in thee). (A Trinity – Hilaire Belloc)
Prayer: Beautiful Spirit, form us in strength of spine, warmth of heart, and wisdom of mind.
Question: What is my Trinity?
