Dear Spirit, Lead Us

Dear Spirit, lead us like you led Jesus into and through the desert. A great mission awaits to transform the world. We will need to be strong to endure. We will need to be one of many leaders able to deal with obstacles; obstacles of institutions, laws, controlled finances and resources. We will need to be leaders open to learning; learning how to be persons of integrity, how to connect with people, how to collaborate. We will especially need to be one of many leaders who can nurture faith; faith in each other, faith in our moral sensibilities, faith in our being led by a Beautiful Spirit. Lead us so that we do not go along with the existing set up because you lead us instead to challenge the system and people who support it. Lead us so that we do not seek privilege because you lead us instead to live, work, and play as or among those who are poor and vulnerable, willing to share the little we have with each other. Lead us so that we do not respond in type to people who abuse, hate, or hurt us because you lead us instead to befriend, forgive, and heal opponents. Lead us so that we do not impose our control over others from the top down because you lead us instead to grow with community gradually from the bottom up. Lead us so that we do not set our sights on the useful operators in the world wanting to get ahead because you lead us instead to people who want to live in communion with one another.

Prayer: Beautiful Spirit, lead us into and through our great mission in this world.
